YB Dr.Xavier Jayakumar said....
Whether it is BN or PR.... demolishing temple is always wrong and not acceptable... MIC never agreed for any temple demolishment in this country... Wht had happened today in PR government is exactly wht had happened to MIC those days....Only 6 months after formed a government... 1 temple got demolished... No need to finger point anyone anymore.. Lets unite.. Save our temples...
YB Manickavasagam said... MIC is politicizing the temple issue... Come on YB.. you did use the temple issues to win indians heart too.. remember CDs tht has been distributed during the GE12 ? Remember Padang Jawa ? You are politician too.. dont blame MIC for highlighting this issue... MIC never asked you to resign from any position.. You are the one who said so.. then you are comparing yourself with MIC.. Pity to see that you failed to champion the temple issue this time.. Resigning the 'Timbalan Pengerusi Badan Perhubungan PKR Negeri Selangor' but maintaining the "Ahli Majlis Tertinggi PKR' and 'Ahli Parlimen' always seen as a political gimmic... try something else... Good luck

Pengenalan : YB Dr.Xavier Jayakumar
HOT NEWS ! Mr.Waythamoorthy challenged Dr.Xaview Jayakumar and Pakatan !
DR XAVIER JAYAKUMAR OF PAKATAN EXCO LOST THE PLOT ON TEMPLE “NOT REGISTERED ACCORDING TO THEIR FORMAT”. PAKATAN GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT FOLLOW THEIR PREDECESSORS ATTITUDE OF MISLEADING THE PEOPLE ON “REGISTER” ISSUE. IS PAKATAN GOVERNMENT WILLING TO LODGE POLICE REPORTS ON AMPANG JAYA MUNICIPAL COUNCIL??
HINDRAF is shocked with the statement made by Dr.Xavier Jayakumar which appears to echo that of the usual excuses given by BN and UMNO leaders that Temples are demolished because they are not “registered”.
We maintain our stand that there are no provisions currently under the Law to register the existence of a Temple and that this and all temples exist legally under Article 11 of the Federal Constitution. The issue of legality of a Temple does not exist at all and it is a duty of the Government to provide land and funds for places of worships belonging to any and all religious groups. The statement by Dr. Jayakumar that the Sri Maha Kaliamman Temple is not registered with the Selangor State Council and that it did not fulfil the “format” of registration is a joke and makes a mockery of the basic right to worship of every citizen. It appears the Pakatan Government is singing the same tune of the previous Barisan Government in misleading the community to believe that the temple committee was at fault for not registering the temple.
We challenge Dr Jayakumar and his Pakatan Government to produce the necessary provisions of the state Law that stipulated the necessity of the so-called “format”. To add insult to injury he had the audacity to say this is not a Temple but a shrine. Is he trying to indicate that it was okay to demolish a shrine? How less is a shrine than a temple?? The problem with these politicians is they do not give a dam about the feelings of Hindus and the need to provide and gazette places of worships belonging to Hindus.
HINDRAF have specifically written to the 5 Pakatan led Governments to gazette all temples (which is directly under their purview) but till date they have not taken any positive steps to do the same and keep misleading the people in the same way BN did.
HINDRAF is taken aback with the statement that the MPAJ had ordered the demolition of the Temple without knowledge or directive of the state Government. If the statement of Dr.Xavier is true he should take the most responsible step by lodging police report and insist the police initiate criminal proceedings against MPAJ for their Criminal act under the penal Code for defiling a place of worship.
The statement by Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin justifying the demolition of the temple on grounds of misunderstanding between MPAJ and temple management on renovation works and documentation is another mockery. Is it consistent with good Governance to demolish a place of worship should there be a “misunderstanding”. Would anyone in MPAJ dare demolish a mosque?
HINDRAF hereby calls on the Selangor Government to stop playing politics and mislead the people and immediately gazette all places of worships and provide land and funding for the purposes of erection of places of worships belonging to Hindus and non-Muslims.
P. Waytha Moorthy
Chairman

923 - Emergency Session of Parliament
source : TheStar
Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the only way for Pakatan Rakyat to form the Federal Government was via an emergency session of Parliament to be convened by Tuesday for a no-confidence motion to be tabled against Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
The date is a day before Anwar, who is the Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader, goes to court to face a sodomy charge,
He insisted yesterday that Pakatan Rakyat had the numbers to form a new government, adding that the names of the Barisan Nasional MPs who were ready to switch sides would be revealed in Parliament
_________________________________________________
Only the Prime Minister can call for an emergency parliamentary session, and even then he needs to give a 14-day notice.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia said this was clearly stated in Article 11(3) of the Parliament Standing Orders.
“Only the Prime Minister has the power to call for an emergency meeting. There is no other way. It is only the Government of the day who can do it,” he said.

DS Anwar Ibrahim :
- I have more than 31 Barisan MPs have agreed to cross over to Pakatan Rakyat.
- I am appealing (for this meeting with PM) in the name of political stability and a smooth transition. It will be preposterous for the Prime Minister to deny me this meeting.
- I would even give the Prime Minister the names of Barisan MPs wanting to defect to the Pakatan Rakyat alliance of opposition parties.
DS Abdullah :
- I don’t think he has the names. If he does, I don’t think he would wait to inform the people (of the names)
- There is no reason for me to meet him because I don’t think he has the names. He is just getting the people to focus on him and his political ploy. I do not need to see him.
- Reveal the names of the Barisan Nasional MPs the Opposition Leader claims are crossing over to Pakatan Rakyat.
Tengku Razaleigh :
- Speaking about Anwar’s promise about a takeover by Sept 16, he said that if did not happen by the PKR adviser’s own self-imposed deadline, he should be branded a liar.
- As for Umno itself, there is the so-called transition plan -- in which Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was supposed to hand over his post to his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak by 2010 -- which was on, then seemed to have been put on the back-burner, and was now “on again,”
- “Stop it! We must be brave in order to be leaders”

400 Indian Youths Joining MIC in Sepang
He said the division, the first in Selangor to recruit members in large numbers, hoped to attract more new members in the future.
“They (the new members) are confident that the MIC will be able to represent their needs,” he told reporters here yesterday.
MIC vice-president Datuk S. Sothinathan and Youth coordinator T. Mohan were also present.
Krishnan said the move by the party headquarters to separate the Youth wing from the MIC branches had generated keen interest from youths to join the party.
He was confident that more Indian women would join the MIC following a proposal by party president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu to detach the Wanita movement from all MIC branches so that they could function as a separate entity.
The MIC now has more than 630,000 members with 3,700 branches throughout the country. Samy Vellu is also on a mission to regain the trust of the Indian community. Mohan said the wing had already submitted a list to the headquarters to form 287 branches.
“We hope to form about 750 branches by year’s end,” he said.

Gerakan May Quit BN
KUALA LUMPUR: Gerakan will leave Barisan Nasional if it cannot play a "meaningful role" within the coalition, said acting president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon.
The party is now reviewing its role in Barisan, he said, just a day after he had declared Gerakan had no intention of quitting the coalition.
But that declaration had been tempered with the caution that Barisan must change to cope with the political reality and move away from race-based politics.
Dr Koh said it was only right for the party to question its role in the coalition.
He said a "meaningful role" meant having mutual respect, sharing ideas and consulting on major programmes and policies.
"We will remain in Barisan Nasional only in the context that we have a meaningful role to play.
"It's not unconditional, as was reported by one press, that Gerakan will always remain in Barisan, as if it were irrespective of whether we have a role (to play) or not.
Asked if this meant there was a possibility that Gerakan would leave the coalition, Dr Koh said:
"I don't know what else can I say. You want to write it like that, you go ahead."
He also reiterated that Gerakan was not a "yes-man" in the coalition but it would also not leave merely because another component party’s member attacked them.
He said Gerakan would not act emotionally and the party would look at the overall picture, such as what the party could do for the people, for unity and for the economy.
Asked if Gerakan was happy with its current role in the coalition, Dr Koh said it was not happy, but it was also not unhappy enough to leave.
He said the party would not take too long to review its role but neither would it give itself a tight deadline.
"We are discussing the time frame now -- as I said, it has to be reasonable," he said.
He noted that Gerakan was a founding partner of Barisan and would not just leave because it was upset with some things.
Dr Koh had also earlier warned that Barisan may reach a “point of no return” if racist remarks and anti-social behaviour continued to tarnish its image, implicitly referring to Umno Bukit Bendera division chairman Datuk Ahmad Ismail’s alleged racist statements.
Ahmad was reported to have described Malaysian-Chinese as immigrants and squatters. He has denied the reports, saying journalists had quoted him out of context.
He has also refused to apologise for the alleged remarks, citing support from the 13 Umno divisions in Penang, and demanded that Dr Koh and Chinese community leaders apologise to him for asking him to express regret.
Ahmad also said that he was sure MCA would garner unanimous support from the Chinese if Gerakan broke away from Barisan, which saw Dr Koh accusing him of "trying to drive a wedge" between Gerakan and MCA.

The Star - 'Pendatang' Issue
Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has apologised for the statement made by one of the party's division leaders which resulted in a lot of criticism from the Chinese community.
Chinese leaders: It’s Ahmad who must say sorry
Various political parties still want Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail to make a personal apology although Umno as a party has already said sorry.
